Roney's of virginia

James RONEY, from County Carlow, Ireland, was the first Roney to come to
the Northern Neck aera of Virigina. Lived in Richmond County, Viriginia till

his death about 1738, His widow, Ann Roney, acted as administrator of his

estate, appearing in court 6 Nov 1738. Ann Roney, wife of James Roney

deceased came into court and made oath the the said James Roney departed

this life without making any will so farr as she knew on her motion and gaining

security for her just and faithful administration of the said decendants estate,

a certificate is granted her for obtaining letters of administration in due form.
This 6th November 1738, Richmond Co., Va, Court . No will has been

found for James Roney in Virginia.

His son James Roney, who was in the area that later became Richmond,

VA, move on to North Carolina and settled in 1755 on Back Creek in the area

of Orange County .
